Singleton is termed ‘the Model Village of the Fylde’. Mentioned in the Domesday Book, the settlement was remodelled as an estate village in the late nineteenth century by Preston cotton magnate Thomas Miller, of Horrocks-Miller.
Singleton Church, 1861 by E.G. Paley, is a Grade II listed building, as is the Fire Engine House with its pargeted plaster panels and louvered bellcote.
Singleton is said to have been the residence of one of the more famous Lancashire Witches Mag Shelton.
Within easy reach of the Fylde coast resorts, Singleton surrounded by farmland, has maintained its village identity.
